As ServiceNow Completes Purchase of Moveworks, Is Another Acquisition on the Way?

By Christine Horton

ServiceNow has completed its acquisition of AI startup Moveworks.

The $2.85B takeover – ServiceNow’s largest acquisition to date – was first revealed in March. But in July, it emerged that the deal was under review by the United States Justice Department due to antitrust concerns. Now, however, ServiceNow has confirmed the purchase is complete.

In a statement, the company said the move advances ServiceNow’s vision “to put AI to work for people,” combining ServiceNow’s agentic AI and intelligent workflows with Moveworks’ front-end AI assistant, enterprise search, and agentic Reasoning Engine.

“Moveworks accelerates ServiceNow’s vision to put AI to work for people across every corner of every business,” said Amit Zavery, president, chief operating officer, and chief product officer at ServiceNow.

“With two decades of workflow intelligence built into a single architecture, we’re powering the agentic AI operating system for the enterprise. Moveworks’ AI Assistant plus ServiceNow’s agentic platform will create an AI-native front door that turns conversations into completed work, allowing customers to resolve issues autonomously, trigger intelligent workflows, and get results – securely, responsibly, and at scale.”

“Moveworks was founded to make work effortless, building a powerful AI assistant platform that gets work done,” added Bhavin Shah, CEO of Moveworks. “By joining ServiceNow, we can now scale this agentic strategy for any organization by connecting our AI Assistant and enterprise search, powered by our Reasoning Engine, with ServiceNow’s trusted workflow automation and AI governance. Together, we’ll deliver secure, fast, end-to-end resolution for employees everywhere.”

Pushing Automation Closer to Users

ServiceNow said recent integrations, such as its partnership with Moveworks, are meant to push that automation closer to end users, allowing employees to interact using natural language across tools they already use.

The company’s internal data shows its AI agents autonomously resolving roughly 90% of IT tickets and a similar share of customer support requests, with dramatically faster turnaround times compared with human-handled workflows.

Moveworks, a long-time integration partner with a conversational front end and enterprise search capabilities, is already deployed alongside ServiceNow at hundreds of shared customers and millions of employee users, suggesting the combined technologies have traction outside early adopters. Nearly nine in 10 Moveworks customers report full-organization deployment, a sign of adoption beyond pilot phases.

ServiceNow’s Largest Acquisition Still To Come?

It’s fair to say that ServiceNow has been on a spending spree in 2025. Earlier this month, it confirmed its sixth acquisition of the year, snapping up identity security firm Veza for more than $1B.

Nevertheless, ServiceNow’s previous acquisitions could all be dwarfed if the latest rumors are to be believed.

Reports indicate the company is in advanced talks to acquire US-Israeli cybersecurity startup Armis in a deal that could be valued at as much as $7B. The move would be ServiceNow’s largest acquisition ever and signal a push into security services beyond workflow automation. The talks, reported by Bloomberg and Reuters, could conclude in the coming days, though they are not yet finalized and could still fall apart.

Market reaction to the Armis news has been mixed: investors have pushed ServiceNow shares lower amid questions about the price and strategic fit, even as analysts debate whether deeper security capabilities might strengthen the platform’s enterprise appeal. The potential deal underscores how ServiceNow is juggling multiple fronts – accelerating AI-driven automation, expanding into adjacent technology areas, and responding to heightened demand for cybersecurity tools – as it seeks to sustain growth in a competitive SaaS landscape.

Final Thoughts

In Moveworks, ServiceNow is buying a familiar partner to strengthen its employee-facing interface, where AI-driven workflows actually get used.

Taken alongside reports of a much larger potential acquisition elsewhere, Moveworks underscores a broader theme in ServiceNow’s strategy: consolidating capabilities around AI, usability, and scale as competition intensifies.
